Shortly after 2:00 am, a disturbance in the middle of the 9th Street and 2nd Avenue East intersection between two males lead to the Owen Sound Police Service attempting to prevent the physical confrontation from escalating and other people from joining into the fracas. However, one of the combatants’s turned his aggression towards a police officer as he placed a head-lock on the uniform constable causing both of them to fall to the pavement. The 28 year old Owen Sound male was subdued and rewarded with criminal charges with an upcoming August court date in answer to charges of causing a disturbance by fighting and assault to resist arrest. The police officer and the male party ended up with scrapes from falling to the pavement that did not require medical attention.
