Police locate wanted male while assisting ambulance with overdose

Just before 5am on January 16th, police responded with an ambulance crew to a residence on Wilsonview Avenue for a male that had received Naloxone after overdosing in the home. After being revived by the Naloxone, the man ran off before he could receive important follow-up medical attention. Naloxone only temporarily blocks the effects of opioid drugs and additional treatment is urgently needed to ensure someones well-being.

When police arrived and began trying to locate the man, they found another man hiding in a downstairs closet. Investigation revealed that man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court from a previous charge and was arrested. When the male was searched he was found in possession of what is believed to be fentanyl and crack cocaine.

Charged with obstruct police, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and multiple counts of breach of recognizance and probation is 30 year-old Guelph man who is to appear in bail court.

Police could not locate the male who had overdosed and whose identity and whereabouts are unknown.

Vehicle collisions

Near the intersection of Waterloo Avenue and Gordon Street there was male on a motorized scooter that was struck by another vehicle. The man was taken to the hospital to deal with his injures that were not life-threatening. The driver of the vehicle was charged with failing to signal when moving from a parked position.

On February 16th, there were seven collision investigated by police.
