Police Issue Warning To Parents After Dog Poisoned In Park

On Wednesday January 20th, 2016, London Police responded to a report of a dog becoming ill after eating an unidentified substance at Chesham Heights Park located at 328 Castlegrove Boulevard.

While walking her dog in the park at 7:30am on Tuesday January 19th, 2016, the owner reported that the dog picked up something (believed to be food), and began eating it. Approximately 40 minutes later, the dog became unresponsive while in the owner’s home. The dog, a 70-pound Labradoodle named Wriggley, was brought to the veterinarian’s where it remained overnight.

Wriggley is currently in good but stable condition and the investigation is ongoing.

While this is an isolated incident, London Police would like to take this opportunity to warn parents to make sure small children don’t pick up and eat any strange items. Pet owners are reminded that dogs should be kept on leash and they should not let their domestic pets eat any discarded food in backyards, parks and paths.

If you come across any suspicious material, notify police immediately.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in on-line anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com.
