Waterloo Regional Police are investigating the death of a man in Waterloo early this morning.
Shortly after 4:30 a.m. citizens discovered a man with severe head injuries at the intersection of Austin Drive and Hazel Street, Waterloo. Emergency services responded but the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates this pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle that left the scene.
Based on information from the public, police are searching for an older model SUV style vehicle last seen travelling on Hazel Street towards Columbia Street.
The investigation is being led by the Traffic Branch with the assistance of Forensic Identification and Criminal Investigations Branch.
The body of the man has been transported to a Hamilton hospital for a forensic post mortem.
No further details will be released at this time.
