Police Investigate Thefts from Mausoleums

The Halton Regional Police in Burlington are investigating several incidents of thefts from Mausoleums.

Between December 2nd and December 5th 2016, unknown suspect(s) attended Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery located at 600 Spring Garden Road and Bayview Crematorium, Cemetery & Mausoleum located at 740 Spring Garden Road where the suspect(s) are believed to have entered the unlocked mausoleums and used a tool to gain access into several niches which is a final resting location for cremated remains.

Once access was made into a niche, the suspect(s) steal valuables and/or sentimental property contained within such as wedding bands, necklaces, charms and bracelets. The exact number of niches entered and the value of items stolen is still being determined.

There is no indication that urns containing cremated remains have been disturbed in any way.
