On Sunday May 14 th , 2017 at approximately 4:52 p.m. a concern citizen alerted police to a possible break and enter in progress to a residence in the 1600 block of 4 th Avenue on the west side of the City.
When the officers arrived they located the suspect in a wooded area in the 1500 block of 3 rd Avenue West. The 28 year old man was in the middle of hiding the property that he had stolen from the residence, to return to collect at a later time. Interrupted by the officers the individual fled on foot in an attempt to evade arrest. The foot pursuit continued to the area of the Kelso Beach Camp ground at which time police caught up to the suspect and took him into custody without further incident.
The crime had the appropriate ending with the suspect apprehend and all of the stolen property located and returned back to the rightful owner. This was all due to an attentive citizen who identified that things didn’t seem right and did the right thing by immediately contacting police to investigate.
The 28 year old Owen Sound man has been held in police custody and will appear in the Owen Sound Court of Justice for a bail hearing on Monday morning.
