On Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 2:45 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police were called to Howe Drive in Kitchener after a man was seen attempting to break in to vehicles. When confronted, the man fled on foot, leaving behind a bicycle and other items. Police arrived and noticed fresh footprints in the snow and were able to follow the path to a residence on Mowat Boulevard in Kitchener.
A man was arrested for Trespass at Night and Obstruct Police. A search determined that the suspect was in possession of registered mail that is believed to have been taken from an unlocked vehicle that was parked on Howe Drive. Police also believe, based on property found in the suspects possession, that there were multiple thefts from vehicles that occurred overnight in the area of Mowat Boulevard. Anyone with information on this incident or anyone who may have had their vehicle broken into in that area is asked to call police at 519-650-8500 ext 4499.
