(BLUEWATER, ON) – A female driver from Middlesex Centre is facing Impaired Care & Control and Over 80 charges following an investigation that took place on August 6, 2016. At 6:18 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a Honda Civic parked on the west shoulder of Bluewater Veteran’s Highway near Shangrila Road.
The investigating officer noticed extensive damage on the driver’s side of the vehicle so the officer stopped to check on the condition of the driver and the vehicle. The officer noted the driver was sound asleep behind the wheel and the engine was running. The officer was able to wake the driver and while speaking with the driver the officer detected the odour of alcohol coming from the driver’s breath. Further observations were made by the investigating officer which led the officer to believe the driver was impaired by alcohol. Consequently, the driver was placed under arrest for Care & Control of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired. She was transported to the Huron OPP detachment where she subsequently provided two samples of her breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician. Both of her samples registered over the legal limit.
As a result, 24-year-old Brittany CONRAD from Middlesex Centre has been charged with Impaired Care & Control and Care & Control – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. She has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter on September 22, 2016. She was served with a 90-day automatic driver’s licence suspension and her motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
