Police Execute Search Warrant and Seize Firearms

Members of the Hamilton Police Gangs and Weapons Enforcement Unit in conjunction with the Provincial Biker Enforcement Unit began to investigate reports of unauthorized weapons that were suspected to be at a residence on Montrose Avenue, Hamilton. As a result of this investigation, Officers were granted a Criminal Code Search Warrant to enter the home.

On Thursday, September 15, 2016 just shortly after 10:30am, members of the Emergency Response Unit, Gangs and Weapons Enforcement Unit, and Provincial Biker Enforcement Unit, as well as other police resources, executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a home in the area of Montrose Avenue.

As a result, Police arrested two (2) individuals and a warrant has been issued for another man. Processed Marihuana and firearms were also seized, which included a rifle and handgun.

CHARGED – Rebecca OTT, a 46 year old woman from Hamilton, ON.

CHARGES – Unauthorized possession of firearm x2, Breach of firearms regulation x2, Tampering with serial number of firearm, Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm x2, Possession of prohibited device, Possession of Marihuana – 30grams or less

Rebecca’s bail has been opposed.

CHARGED – 20 year old woman from Jarvis, ON.

CHARGES – Unauthorized possession of firearm x 2, Breach firearms regulations x 2, Tampering with serial number of firearm, Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm x2, Possession of prohibited device, Possession of Marihuana – 30grams or less

The 20 year old woman was released on a promise to appear in court at a future date.

WANTED – Darcy Oberding, a 47 year old man from Hamilton is wanted for Unauthorized possession of firearm x 2, Breach firearms regulations x 2, Tampering with serial number of firearm, Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm x2, Possession of prohibited device, Possession of Marihuana – 30grams or less
