On April 23, 2014 at 8:16 p.m., the Guelph Police went to an Edinburgh Road South residence to investigate a theft. It was alleged that a male that is a new roommate in this residence had stolen items from the house and locked himself in his room. Police arrived to find the male had barricaded his door from the inside. There were also concerns the male may have a knife in the room. At 9:00 p.m., police were able to bring a successful completion to the incident. The 24-year-old male was apprehended and taken to hospital for a mental health assessment.
