On Wednesday February 26th 2014, Saugeen Shores Police were en-route to a motor vehicle collision on County Road #3. The roads were snow covered and blowing snow from the west caused reduced visibility. The officer was stopped southbound on County Road #3, south of the Saugeen Bluffs Road approaching the collision scene in a line of traffic behind a snow plow. The officer’s cruiser was struck from behind by another motorist. The impact caused major damage to both vehicles.
A front seat passenger in the vehicle received injuries from the seatbelt and airbag deployment and was transported to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital in Southampton to have injuries assessed. Injuries are believed to be minor in nature. The officer was assessed and released from the hospital with no injuries.
The collision investigation and subsequent reports are being completed by the Ontario Provincial Police.
The other motor vehicle collision the officer was responding to is also being investigated by the Ontario Provincial Police.
