Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police in partnership with the City of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Waterloo are conducting the 11th annual Door Knocker Program in the areas surrounding the Universities.
Police Officers, Bylaw Officers, WLU and UW Campus Police and City of Waterloo Fire Department will be going door to door September 16, 2014 starting at 6PM to speak with residents and deliver flyers containing a welcome message to students and information about living in Waterloo.
Members of City Council, Staff and student representatives from both universities will be greeting students along with enforcement officers to deliver the message of being a good neighbour and encouraging others to do the same.
The message is to welcome and say hello to residents of Waterloo as well as the following information and expectations:
Providing a list of resources available to students for both on and off campus,
There is a firm but fair approach to enforcement in Waterloo for things like public intoxication,
The police are here to help students with safety and security; we ask that you lock your doors and put up curtains for your own protection, lock bicycles with a good quality lock in a well-lit area,
Should students have landlord problems contact your on-campus housing offices or the City of Waterloo who can advise on the appropriate place to go to for help,
