Police Chief Retires

The Owen Sound Police Services Board today accepted the letter of retirement from Chief W. Sornberger effective 31 December 2018.

Chief Sornberger has chosen to retire after serving more than 42 years as a police officer of which 11 years were spent here in Owen Sound as Deputy and Chief.

“I’m proud of this organization and what we have been able to accomplish over these past seven years as Chief. I want to thank the Board, the men and women of our Police Service and the community. It has been an honour and privilege to lead this organization,”

said Chief Sornberger.

A nationwide search for a new Chief of Police will begin shortly. “Chief Sornberger has provided many years of exemplary leadership to the Police Service and will be fondly remembered for his endless hours of dedication, hard work and many innovative approaches to policing.”
