Police charge Woolwich male in death of Wellesley teen

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police Homicide Detectives have charged a Woolwich Township resident in connection with the death last April of a Wellesley Township teen.
Quin James KURTZ, 20 years, will appear today in the Ontario Court of Justice in Kitchener charged with Manslaughter, Criminal Negligence Causing Death, and Intimidating a Justice System Participant.

The victim, Austin PADARIC, 17 years, died in a Hamilton hospital on April 12, 2013 of a suspected drug overdose after suffering a medical emergency while attending a party at the accused’s Elmira apartment a week earlier.
An investigation by Divisional Detectives into the circumstances surrounding his death was launched, and in November, police received the final results of a forensics report. Homicide investigators became involved and on December 11, KURTZ was arrested on the new charges.
Following the incident on April 6 that led to emergency services being called, Quin KURTZ was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Control Substance (Morphine), Production of Marihuana, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x 2; Possession of a Controlled Substance and Breach of Probation.

A search warrant executed at his home resulted in police seizing numerous controlled substances including marihuana, morphine, and psilocybin.
