(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A male wanted by police on a Canada-wide arrest warrant and a female who had decided to flee from a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program in the Municipality of North Perth have been located and arrested.
Shortly after 10:00 p.m., the pair entered the area of the R.I.D.E. program co-ordinated by members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). In an effort to evade capture, both individuals fled the scene and ran into a nearby wooded area.
A search involving members from Perth, Huron, and Wellington County OPP detachments, Perth County Paramedic Services and the North Perth Fire Department ensued. Superior teamwork in frigid temperatures resulted in the locating of both individuals.
Thirty-two-year old Daniel GOULDEN of Loyalist Township was arrested and transported to hospital for assessment. He was assessed, released and has been charged with the following offences:
Drive While Disqualified
Flight From Police
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
Possession of Schedule I Substance for Purpose of Trafficking (Methamphetamine)
Operate a Motor Vehicle-No Insurance
Fail to Wear Seatbelt
Use Plates Not Authorized for Motor Vehicle
Fail to Produce Permit
The male has been remanded into custody, and will await a future court date.
The female was arrested and later released unconditionally.
