(Bluewater, ON) On October 18, 2009 at approximately 3:30 am, Huron OPP officers were dispatched to the Bluewater Rest Home in Zurich. Information provided to police regarding the “break in†was that a large, male, deer had broken through a glass door and was roaming the halls of the rest home injured and bleeding on the floor.
On arrival, police found the animal walking the hallways of the home. All exit doors were opened with the hope that the deer would leave under its’ own accord. Apparently the deer liked it at the rest home because he refused to leave. Officers attempted to force it to leave by chasing it down the hallway towards an exit door but the deer just turned and charged at the officers. With a bit of perseverance and sweet talk however, the frightened deer was escorted to a door where he decided it would be best to go home. No one was injured although there were some noise complaints from residents the following morning until the story was heard.
