Police Called To Locate 15 Missing Teenagers

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON): The Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called on May 23, 2013 to locate 15 missing 16 to 17 year old youths on the Bruce Peninsula. The youth’s part of an Algonquin hiking experience through their school in Waterloo Region became separated from the main group around 5:00p.m. on the 23rd of May.

The OPP were called after attempts to locate the youths were unsuccessful. The OPP organized a search team using the Emergency Response Team(ERT) and are currently searching an area that begins at the High Dump area of the Bruce Peninsula National Park and moves north from that location.

The OPP have been advised that there are no concerns for the youths regarding an overnight stay in the bush as the trip’s emphasis is on survival and out back camping. The OPP is requesting parents to contact the Bruce Peninsula OPP at 519-534-1323 or 1-888-310-1122 for further information.
