Police Assaulted

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on September 1, 2013, police were in the area of Lovett Street in the City of London, Ontario.

Police were approached by Cory Chrisjohnn, a 23-year-old male, who was intoxicated and on conditions not to consume alcohol. As police placed Chrisjohn under arrest, he began to swing his fists at the officers.

Associates of Chrisjohn attended the scene and obstructed police during the arrest. Samantha Elijah, a 42-year-old female, and two young offenders obstructed and assaulted the officers who were in lawful execution of their duty.

Additional officers were dispatched to the scene to apprehend the parties.

The following charges have been laid:

Cory Chrisjohn of London is charged with breach of recognizance, resist arrest and assault police contrary to sections 145(3), 129(a) and 270(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Samantha Elijah of London is charged with obstruct police and resist arrest contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The involved police officers sustained minor injuries as a result of the assaults.
