BEING THE VICTIM OF A SEXUAL ASSAULT IS NEVER YOUR FAULT
• The Brantford Police encourages the public to be familiar of their surroundings.
• Before exiting your vehicle have a look around the outside area of your vehicle for anyone suspicious or strange.
• Have your keys in your hand in case you need to get back into your vehicle quickly.
• A crime can happen to anyone.
• Have your route planned and avoid taking short cuts along your route.
• Always let someone know where you are going, and the time you expect to reach
your destination.
• If you suspect you are being followed, cross the street and go to the nearest well-lit residence or business.
• Yell ‘fire’, ‘help’, or yell ‘call 911’ or ‘call police’. A criminal or ‘bad guy’ does not want attention drawn to themselves.
• Trust your suspicions and instincts, if you are sensing something is wrong- it most likely is.
