(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – Following one of the harshest winters in recent memory, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) wants to publicly recognize the hard working plow operators for their efforts. Quickly recognized when a mail box is knocked down, or when the flow of traffic is moving between 50 km/h – 60 km/h, these dedicated plow operators went out of their way in an effort to keep traffic flowing safely.
Working long shifts in violent winter storms they tirelessly treated roads that proved too much for the drivers that “rolled the dice†and decided to go driving in the storms; despite the warnings issued by police, roads departments and weather services.
“Emergency services personnel are needlessly placed in very dangerous situations when called upon to drive down closed roads and rescue stranded motorists who should never have been on the road in the first place. Plow operators assisted emergency services personnel in reaching stranded motorists and people in need of urgent medical care. I appreciate everything they did and hope that everyone will recognize their contribution to keeping Bruce County safe†– Inspector Scott Smith, Detachment Commander, South Bruce OPP.
