(Hawkesbury, ON) On September 4th, 2013, shortly before 11:30 pm, Constable Lauzon and Hahn stopped a vehicle on Régent Street for excessive loud music.
The traffic stop gave the officers reason to believe that the driver had consumed alcohol. Further investigation revealed that the driver had blood alcohol content over the permitted limit.
The driver was consequently arrested for driving a motor vehicle while having over 80 mgs of alcohol per 100 mgs of blood. During the arrest, the driver resisted to his arrest where officers had to subdue the suspect.
Further investigation also revealed that the driver was in possession of methamphetamines.
Pierre CORMIER (36) of Régent Street in Hawkesbury, was charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with the following sections
– 253(1)(b) Blood Alcohol Content Exceed 80 Milligrams.
– 129(a) Obstruct/Resist Peace Officer.
He was also charged with section 4(1) under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act for Possession Schedule I – Methamphetamine.
The vehicle was seized for 7 days and driver’s licence immediately suspended for 90 days.
He was later released on a promise to appear in court on September 25th, 2013 in L’Orignal.
