Pharma Plus Robbery

On Friday, January 23, 2015 at approximately 8:45 a.m., a vehicle was left running unattended at a Pennybrook Crescent address. The vehicle was stolen then, minutes later, the suspect drove to the Pharma Plus located at 1593 Adelaide Street North where he demanded medication. He obtained medication and fled the pharmacy, followed by the pharmacist and the store manager. They were unsuccessful in detaining the suspect and the pharmacist was subsequently struck by the vehicle. He was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect then fled in the vehicle westbound on Fanshawe Park Road. The vehicle collided with an eastbound vehicle at the intersection of Fanshawe Park Road and Stoneybrook Crescent and then struck a tree. Neither driver was injured as a result of the collision.

The suspect then fled the stolen vehicle and broke into a garage of a residence on Cumberland Crescent. The suspect was subsequently arrested at 9:04 a.m.

As a result of the investigation, Marshall McClinchey, (25) of London, has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:

– Two counts of robbery, contrary to section 343(b);
– Two counts of fail to remain at scene of accident, contrary to section 252(1.1);
– Two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, contrary to section 249(1)(a);
– Two counts of break and enter, contrary to section 348(1)(b);
– Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, contrary to section 354(1)(a);
– Theft of motor vehicle, contrary to section 333.1(1); and
– Disguise with intent, contrary to section 351(2).

The London Police Service would like to remind citizens not to leave vehicles running while unattended. Police do not endorse citizens attempting to apprehend suspects; citizens should make observations then contact the police with the information. We would also like to thank the citizens who called in, which assisted in the quick arrest of the suspect. It is encouraged that all suspicious activity be reported to police.
