Detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigation Branch from the Hamilton Police mountain police station (Division 30) have been investigating reports of a man that was observed committing indecent acts in the area of the Kenilworth stairs. It is suspected that some witnesses may have seen the suspect committing acts but have not yet reported them to police over the month of May 2016.
Witnesses reported seeing the man committing an indecent act in the area of the Kenilworth stairs that leads from the bottom of the Kenilworth Access to the escarpment trails. The trail runs east from the Kenilworth set of stairs and to connect again to a set of stairs that leads to Mountain Brow Boulevard.
This area is commonly used by citizens to enjoy many outdoor activities including hiking, running, cycling and other exercise activities. The Hamilton Police is encouraging anyone using the trails and stairs to report any suspicious people or activities to Police and to be aware of their surroundings when using the trails.
The reported incident took place on May 19, 2016, just shortly after 8:00pm.
The suspect seen engaging in the indecent act was described as follows:
Male white, in his 30’s with a medium build. He had short straight dirty blonde or light brown hair just over his ears. He had no facial hair but was described as being unshaven. He was seen wearing khaki plaid shorts with a grey coloured t-shirt
