Waterloo Region, ON – Waterloo Regional Police Major Case Detectives are renewing their appeal for information and continue to investigate two recent incidents in which a male approached young children playing outside.
On Monday May 19, 2014 at approximately 5:30 p.m., three children were playing at the creek bed located off Parkside Drive in Waterloo whena male spoke with one of the girls and was then seen touching her. In this incident the suspect was described as White, in his 20’s, light brown hair, blue eyes, a scratch on his face near his right ear; thin build, 5’4â€Â-5’6â€Â, wearing faded blue jeans with no back pockets, plain brown shirt and black “Sketchers†running shoes.
On Saturday, June 28th, 2014 between 6pm and 7pm, a male approached two girls playing at the rear of a townhouse complex on Holborn Drive, Kitchener. The suspect tried to engage the girls in conversation and asked them to go to the park with him. The male followed the children a short distance until they ran for help. The suspect is described as White, 5’11â€Â, in his 20’s, wearing a beige short sleeve shirt with big checks, beige pants, and sunglasses.
Major Case Branch detectives are exploring the possibility that the same male may have been involved in both incidents. Police are encouraging parents to discuss safety strategies with their children and to ensure they are aware of the importance of reporting suspicious behavior immediately to a trusted adult.
