Pervert Alert – Children Approached

Police are investigating after two young females ages 11 and 12 were approached by a male at the Grove St Plaza located at 477 Grove St E. This occurred at approximately 3:50pm on June 9th, 2015.

Male approached the girls in a maroon minivan with tinted windows.

Male is described as male white, thin build, approximately 20 years old wearing a blue or grey tank top and sunglasses. He had short blonde hair spiked to one side. Male may have had a female passenger with him.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Barrie Police or Crime Stoppers.

Date: Tuesday, June 9, 2015 – 7:18pm

Around 7:00pm Barrie Police received a call from a citizen who observed a motor vehicle drive into the ditch on Makay Road east of the 400 highway. The citizen believed the driver was impaired. Police attended and confirmed the driver was impaired three times the legal limit. The male driver was charged with impaired driving.

Barrie Police were called to a local residence by the home owner requesting a tenant to be removed because the tenant was smashing bottles in the home. When police arrived to remove the female she punched the officer. The thirty nine year old female was arrested and charged for assaulting a peace officer.

Date: Tuesday, June 9, 2015 – 11:30am

On May 9, 2015 the Barrie Police Service responded to a shop lifting call at a Wellington St grocery store. Once on scene the investigating officer learned that a 14 year old young person had selected a small quantity of junk food from the store and left the store without making any attempt to pay and was stopped and arrested by the loss prevention staff on duty. The officer continued the lawful arrest of the youth and learned that the youth was involved in an arson that occurred at the Lampman Lane Community Centre on May 27, 2015.

One other suspect is still outstanding in the arson investigation.

As a result the young person was arrested and charged with theft under and arson and was released with a future court date and a number of conditions to comply with.
