Peel – Peel Regional Police Acting Inspector Donny Ross, Officer-in-Charge of Crimes against Property and Robbery, addressed the media regarding arrests made in Project Blue Rock, which focused on home invasion style robberies.
Peel Regional Police commenced an investigation after a series of robberies occurred between October 2014 and December 23, 2015.
As reported earlier today at the press conference, members of the Peel Regional Police Central Robbery Bureau have arrested 2 individuals in connection with a series of violent home invasions and jewelry store robberies that occurred between October 31, 2014 and December 23, 2015.
These acts were vicious and cowardly. In some cases, the accused parties used hand guns, duct tape, zip ties and a taser to assault the victims which included elderly and children.
The Central Robbery Bureau dedicated 6 full time investigators to tackle these violent crimes. Assistance was given by the Peel Regional Police Crime Prevention Services, and the Toronto Police Service. As well, Peel Regional Police would like to recognize the Jewelers Vigilance Canada and MPP Harinder MALHI.
While the investigation remains open, the Central Robbery Bureau has arrested and charged Niranjan KALAICHLVAM, a 32 year old Brampton resident, and Shakyle HENRY a 20 year old Brampton resident.
The Central Robbery Bureau has obtained a warrant of arrest for Rashid AHMAD. Rashid AHMAD is described as a south Asian male from Windsor, 25 years of age, 5’9” tall, 157 pounds, black hair and brown eyes. AHMAD also has a scar over his left eyebrow.
