Pedestrian Succumbs To Injuries

On Friday, December 5, 2015 at 6:36 p.m., emergency services were called to attend the area of Adelaide Street near Osgoode Drive after a pedestrian had been struck while crossing the street. The 63-year-old man has since succumbed to his injuries. His identity is being withheld at the request of his family. The Traffic Management Unit is continuing with this investigation.

The London Police Service would like to remind drivers, cyclists and pedestrians that road safety is a shared responsibility. With the milder weather, there are more cyclists and pedestrians compared to this time in previous years. Even though there aren’t many, some cyclists ride throughout the winter as well.

It is imperative that cyclists have reflectors and a light on their bikes. Cyclists and pedestrians are encouraged to wear lighter-coloured clothing during the evening and nighttime hours, when visibility is reduced. Don’t assume that you will be seen by all drivers – ensure it is safe before crossing any roadways.

As we approach the winter season, drivers, cyclists and pedestrians must remain vigilant of one another. Drivers are reminded to adjust their driving accordingly. If you see snow, drive slow! Let’s all work together at improving the safety of our roads.
