Pedestrian Struck In Listowel Airlifted To London

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Tuesday January 20, 2015 at approximately 1:45 p.m., Perth County OPP officers were called to a motor vehicle / pedestrian collision at the intersection of Wallace Ave North and Inkerman St. East in Listowel.

Investigation revealed that a GMC Sierra pickup truck was driving south bound on Wallace Ave North when it made a left turn onto Inkerman St. East. The pickup struck a pedestrian in the Inkerman Street crosswalk. The pedestrian, a 69 year old female from Howick Township was transported by land ambulance to a local hospital from where she was transported by air ambulance to a London Hospital with major injuries. The driver of the pickup truck a 57 year old male from the Municipality of North Perth did not sustain injuries.

Inkerman St. East just east of Wallace Ave North is expected to remain closed until 6:30 p.m. to assist in the safe removal of the involved vehicle and to allow the Western Region OPP Technical Traffic Investigation Unit to continue their investigation into the cause of the collision.
