A serious accident took place today at the Bayfield street at Rose street intersection. An elderly citizen was struck by a passing vehicle. The pedestrian was rushed to the Royal Victoria Hospital with what was first believed to be life threatening injuries. The intersection was closed for a period of time and has since reopened. The Barrie Police Traffic unit investigated the incident. The pedestrian was determined to be at fault and was subsequently charged under the Highway Traffic Act. The Police are reminding pedestrians to be mindful of traffic and to utilize the pedestrian cross walks at intersections at the appropriate times. The injuries to the pedestrian turned out to be minor in nature.
