Passing Police Cruiser Results In Racing Charge – Vehicle Seized

(HURON EAST, ON) – Passing a cruiser at nearly double the speed limit is what a 31 year old driver from Goderich will have to answer to in traffic court come this May. On March 28, 2015 shortly before 11:00 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was travelling eastbound on Huron Road near Front Road when he observed a Grand Prix pull out and make a pass of three vehicles, including the OPP traffic car. The OPP officer used a RADAR device to confirm the speed of the fast moving Grand Prix and was able to measure the speed of the vehicle at 152 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. Once the Grand-Prix zoomed by the OPP police vehicle the officer initiated a traffic stop and was able to stop the driver without incident.

Robert YOUNG, 31, from Goderich was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle. He has a scheduled court appearance for May 19, 2015 at Provincial Offences Act Court in Goderich. He was also served with an automatic seven day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was seized for seven days.
