Passed Out 17 Year Old Arrested After Refusing To Blow In Snow Bank

(HURON EAST, ON) – A young driver from Huron East is facing four criminal charges following his arrest that took place on New Year’s Day.

At approximately 4:15 a.m. on January 1, 2018 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call about a vehicle that had entered into a snow bank on Regina Road in Vanastra.

Police arrived a short time later whereupon they located the driver slumped over the steering wheel with the keys in the ignition. Officers were able to wake the male up and upon speaking with him it was clear to the responding officers the young driver was impaired by alcohol.

He was placed under arrest for Impaired Care & Control of a Motor Vehicle and was taken into custody. He was subsequently transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests however he refused to provide a sample. Furthermore, the uncooperative teen made death threats against an officer.

The accused, 17 years of age at the time of the offence, has been charged with Impaired Care & Control, Refuse to Provide Breath Sample, Uttering Threats and Mischief. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 1, 2018 at Youth Justice Court – Goderich.

He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension.
