Owen Sound Welcomes New Medical Marijuana Manufacturer – 155,000 Square Feet

Canadian Bioceutical Corporation (BCC) has announced plans to expand its life sciences business into the production, processing and distribution of medical marijuana and cannabis based medical products, and that, as soon as the company receives its license from Health Canada, it intends to commence operations of its newest venture in Owen Sound’s industrial park.

The facility will occupy 155,000 sq. ft and is expected to be one of the largest facilities in North America. It will have state of the art production capability, laboratory encapsulation and packaging capabilities. Once fully operational, it is expected to employ up to 100 full time employees.

“The City has always been open to new business and new ideas, and this is no exception. I welcome BCC as our newest manufacturer and a major new employer”, says Mayor Ian Boddy. “I congratulate Peter Van Dolder and the ownership group of the Peninsula Pro-Growth Business Park (former PPG building) for revitalizing the building and making it possible to attract new manufacturers like BCC.”

Medical marijuana production and distribution is a regulated industry and licensed by Health Canada. It is a highly controlled medical production process that will be required to meet numerous security and safety production criteria as determined by Health Canada and the provincial government.
