Owen Sound Arsonist Now Facing Numerous Charges

On Friday, September 1, 2017, five (5) separate fires were extinguished by the Owen Sound Fire and Inter-Township Fire Departments in the downtown area of Owen Sound.

In the early afternoon of Monday, September 4, 2017, the Owen Sound Police arrested a 42 year old Owen Sound man for Arson. As a result of the investigation the following charges have been laid:

1) Arson: Disregard for Human Life

2) Arson: Disregard for Human Life

3) Arson: Property Damage

4) Arson: Property Damage

5) Arson: Property Damage

6) Possess Incendiary Material

During the investigation police uncovered other criminality of the accused. He is also charged with:

7) Theft Under $5000.00

8) Theft Under $5000.00

9) Break, Enter and Commit Theft

10) Mischief under $5000

11) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

12) Obstruct Police -False Identity

13) Obstruct Police -False Identity

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Provincial Courthouse on Tuesday September 5, 2017 at 10:00 am; 611- 9th Avenue East, Courtroom 102 , Owen Sound.

The Owen Sound Police Service still seeks to speak with the man and woman who may have witnessed the arson on 3rd Avenue ‘A’ East on Friday September 1, 2017.
