Ottawa Police seeks assistance in identifying a robbery suspect

(Ottawa) The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a second robbery suspect from August 2013.

On August 21, 2013, between 1:30 am and 2:30 am., a male victim was walking along Cumberland St. when he was attacked by two males. The victim was robbed of several items including identification and banking cards, clothing, and jewellery. The victim sustained some minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation that followed, on November 27, 2013, one suspect was charged with a series of charges stemming from robbery and the fraudulent use of the victim’s banking cards afterward. Herbert RENDEROS, age 29 of Ottawa, was charged with robbery, 19 counts of fraud under $5000, 3 counts of breach of recognizance, and 2 counts of breach of probation. Mr Renderos appears in court next on January 23/2014.

Investigators are looking to the public for assistance in identifying the second suspect. The suspect was captured on video surveillance. The second suspect is Caucasian male, approximately 25 years of age, with a medium-athletic build. He had brown hair, cut short on the date of the robbery. He was carrying a black knap-sack on the date of the robbery. The suspect has extensive tattooing visible on his left arm. The suspect may go by the given name of nickname “Montpetit”.
