Ottawa Police hosts charity breakfast & unfurls the Pride Flag

(Ottawa)— On Monday, August 19, 2013, the Ottawa Police Service and the Ottawa Police Service’s Liaison Committee for the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Trans communities will be hosting a charity pancake breakfast to help kick off Capital Pride Week. The event will start at 6:00 a.m. at the main entrance of the Ottawa Police station at 474 Elgin Street.

Ottawa Police Executive Members along with various leaders in the community will be attending the flapjack-flipping event aimed at raising money for Gender Mosaic, a social and support group for Trans and Cross-Gender community members.

In addition to serving breakfast, the annual unfurling of the Pride Flag will be taking place at 9:10 a.m. The flag will be on display until Monday August 26, 2013.

This year’s pancake breakfast and flag unfurling will be the first stop in a series of events taking place at several City of Ottawa locations throughout the day. An OC Transpo Double Decker Bus, sponsored by Councillor Peter Clark, will transport participants to the other city events, culminating in a flag raising ceremony at City Hall later in the day.
