(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has arrested and charged one man in connection to a series of Kanata convenience store robberies that occurred over the last two months.
The locations and dates are as follows:
Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 11:30pm in the 1-100 block of Kakulu Road
Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 12:58am in the 1000 block of Teron Road
Friday, July 31, 2015 at 1:21am in the 1000 block of Teron Road
Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 1:34am in the 1000 block of Teron Road
Monday, September 7, 2015 at 4:08am in the 1-100 block of Kakulu Road
Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 10:55pm in the 1-100 block of Kakulu Road
Friday, September 18, 2015 at 12:03am in the 1-100 block of Kakulu Road
The suspect typically entered the premises wearing various forms of disguise and was armed with a knife. He would confront the store employee and demand cash. The suspect usually left with cash, and in some instances also took cigarettes and lottery tickets.
In the September 7th robbery, the suspect led the employee to a room and confined him inside before he fled the store. There were no injuries sustained during any of the robberies.
On September 18, 2015, the suspect was arrested without incident a short time and distance away from the scene of the early morning robbery on Kakulu Road.
Steven DANIELOWITSCH, 30 years old, of Ottawa, is charged with the following offences:
Seven (7) counts of Robbery
Seven (7) counts of Wearing a disguise
Seven (7) counts of Possession of a weapon
One (1) count of Forcible confinement
One (1) count of Breach of probation
He appeared in court on September 18, 2015.
