Ottawa man charged with numerous thefts from vehicles

(Ottawa)—On Sunday, May 10, 2015 at 7:10am, Ottawa Police Patrol Officers responded to the area of Aberdeen Street and Preston Street following complaints of a male breaking into vehicles. The male suspect was located and arrested.

Further investigation by Patrol Officers and Central District Investigators revealed that the male had broken into numerous other vehicles between May 1st and May 10th in the Preston Street and Rochester Street areas.

John McGEE, 52 years old of Ottawa is facing the following charges:

Mischief Under x 16

Theft Under x 14

Attempted theft x 2

Possession of Break In instruments x 1

Possession of Stolen Property x 1

Members of the public are reminded not to leave any valuable items in their vehicle. In the event you notice someone acting suspicious around parked vehicles – for example: looking into cars and checking if they are locked or actually opening the doors – please call Police and report it.

By providing a description of the individual including height, weight, age, clothing description and last known direction the person was seen, you will be helping responding officers to identify and locate the suspect.
