The Board of Health for the Grey Bruce Health Unit is pleased to announce union members have voted in favour of an agreement reached in the recent contract negotiations with the Ontario Public Service Employees Union Local 276. The union represents about 70 staff including Public Health Inspectors, dental hygienists, speech therapists, registered practical nurses, dieticians, tobacco use promoters and others.
The Board of Health ratified the agreement at its last meeting, November 28, noting the amicable relationship between the two parties. Union members voted Tuesday evening to accept the offer.
The four-year contact, beginning January 1, 2015, honours the provincial public sector message of fiscal restraint with a one percent wage increase the first year and .25 per cent increases in each subsequent year. The agreement also includes a signing bonus and makes adjustments in contract language.
