OPP Responded To Numerous Crashes

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) On Thursday November 17, 2011 starting at approximately 4:30 p.m., until Friday November 18, 2011 at 7 a.m. the Perth County OPP responded to twelve motor vehicle collisions.

As the snow squalls were travelling across the County many drivers were not driving according to the road and weather conditions. Ten of the collisions involved single motor vehicles leaving the roadway and entering ditches. Of these ten, three were rollover crashes while one struck and snapped a hydro pole at Hwy. 23 and Line 28. Two other collisions involved multiple vehicles. A three vehicle crash occurred around 6 p.m. along Hwy. 23 south of Line 28 but no injuries were reported. A two vehicle property damage collision was investigated at Wellington Ave. and Main St. in Listowel. The twelve crashes resulted in four persons being transported to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.

This first blast of winter has again caught some of us off guard as snowfall arrived and driving conditions became more challenging. The Perth County OPP wants to remind motorists to get your vehicle ready for winter and adjust your driving habits. Most importantly SLOW DOWN, leave extra space, monitor road and weather conditions and drive according to them.
