(LAKE HURON, ON) – On July 20, 2014 at 10:24 am, members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marine Unit were patrolling the waters of Lake Huron when they stopped to inspect a Blue Bayliner V-Hull. Officers found that the vessel was lacking some of the required safety equipment. The operator, a 31 year old Elmira man, was charged under the Canada Shipping Act – Small Vessel Regulations for the violation.
Required safety equipment for boats, sail boats and personal watercraft can be found at: www.tc.gc.ca/boatingsafety. Operators are encouraged to ensure their vessel is properly equipped each time you leave the dock.
