OPP Helps Save Life Of 75 Chepstow Man

(BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On January 25, 2017, at approximately 9:12 p.m., a Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer conducted a traffic stop of a motor vehicle on Highway 21, in South Bruce Peninsula.

The officer was driving eastbound on Highway 21, when he observed an eastbound Honda continually increasing and decreasing its speed and passing over the centre line. The officer initially believing the driver may have been impaired or driving while distracted.

The officer turned on his emergency lights in attempts to pull the vehicle over, but the driver did not respond. The officer passed the vehicle, pulled in front to get the driver’s attention and brought the Honda to a stop.

The officer approached and spoke with the driver who was in need of medical attention. The Bruce County Emergency Medical Services attended the scene and transported the driver to a local hospital. The 75-year-old driver, from Chepstow, has since been released and reported to be doing well. A close friend of the driver, Elaine Crilly, stated, “It is a miracle Constable Terry King found him in that night. He saved my friend’s life. In this day of bad press for Police, you don’t always get the praise you deserve. Thank you.”
