For those that don’t know, North Huron has three wards, Blyth, East
Wawanosh and Wingham. Each ward pays a different property tax
rate, as the services are different in each ward. For example,
Wingham has their own Police service, while Blyth and East Wawanosh
use the OPP at a reduced cost. If one ward didn’t want curb
side pickup, that ward would have their tax rate reduced, to reflect
the reduced service. Area rating<span
class=Apple-converted-space”> is used to assign
specific program costs to different areas within the Municipality
for the purposes of taxation.
