(WEST PERTH, ON) – On May 29, 2018 at approximately 1:50 p.m., members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision at the corner of Montreal Street and St. David’s Street, Mitchell.
The investigation, thus far has revealed, that a sedan was travelling eastbound on Montreal Street, when it collided with a large van travelling southbound on St. David’s Street. The vehicles collided at the intersection. The sedan came to rest near an adjacent home.
As a result of the collision, the 81-year-old, female driver of the sedan was transported to hospital and later transferred into the care of ORNGE Air Ambulance and taken to a trauma centre in London for treatment. The female sustained life-threatening injuries.
The large van was occupied by four people. Two occupants were transported to hospital via land ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
Emergency personnel remain on scene and traffic is diverted around the collision scene.
