OLG Slots Funding – Hanover

HANOVER – The Town of Hanover is pleased to announce a summary of how revenues received from the
Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for hosting OLG Slots at Hanover Raceway were spent during
the 2013 fiscal year.

A total of $1,039,563 of OLG hosting funds received from January 1 to December 31, 2013 was spent on
capital and special projects. OLG revenues are being utilized in a manner that benefits all residents of
Hanover, primarily in alleviating tax rate increases that would otherwise be required to sustain the current
Town’s services, infrastructure and assets. As Mayor Sue Paterson explains, “Without the OLG funds, the
Town of Hanover would not be able to continue to upgrade its infrastructure and maintain current assets
in a timely and sustainable manner while keeping Hanover tax rate increases minimal. In addition, many
community organizations and initiatives would not otherwise be possible without OLG funds.”

Notable projects completed during 2013 with OLG funds include: 13th Avenue reconstruction from 9th to 13th
Street; paving of roads at the Hanover Cemetery; building upgrades including roof replacements and arena
condenser upgrades; computer upgrades; donations to charitable organizations; and contributions to the
Rural Family Medicine Residency Program.

support.” said Larry Flynn, OLG’s Senior Vice President of Gaming. “We’re directly supporting the local
economies of our host communities across Ontario by providing a share of gaming revenue. Hanover is doing
some remarkable things with this revenue for the benefit of its citizens. And, we appreciate the contribution of our gaming site employees in making life in Hanover that much richer.”
The Town’s relationship with the OLG and Hanover Raceway continues to offer an entertainment experience,
create jobs and stimulate the regional economy.
