Officer Struck As 67 Year Old Flees Police

On Monday January 25th, 2016 at approximately 6:43 p.m., members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service on bicycle patrol attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a blue Chevrolet Cobalt after observing the motor vehicle driving in an erratic manner. This occurred at the intersection of Duke St. and Lowther St. North in Cambridge. The driver of the motor vehicle failed to stop and while fleeing the area struck one of the officers. The female driver then failed to stop for numerous red lights and stop signs as the vehicle sped away. The officers were able to obtain a license plate number and several hours later a 67 year old female was located and arrested at her Cambridge home. She faces several Criminal and Highway Traffic Act charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assault with a weapon and failing to stop for police.
