Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police investigators have charged an eleven year member of the Service in connection with an investigation into an off-duty matter.
The member, a patrol officer assigned to North Division, has been charged with Assault, Mischief Under $5000, and Uttering a Threat x 3.
The officer is scheduled for an appearance in the Ontario Court of Justice in Kitchener on Thursday February 4, 2016.
Additionally, the Waterloo Regional Police Service Professional Standards Branch will be conducting a review of the circumstances.
While the investigation continues, the member has been suspended with pay as per the requirements of the Police Services Act of Ontario.
The incident is family-related and accordingly, disclosure of further details, including the name of the member, may identify the victim.
