Officer Ditches Vehicle

(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On January 31, 2018 at approximately 5:10 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 6 & 10, south of Rockford, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs, involving an OPP cruiser.

The fully marked cruiser was travelling southbound on Highway 6 & 10 and was about to overtake a vehicle when another southbound vehicle proceeded to make a left turn onto Circle Drive.

To avoid a collision, the officer took evasive action by driving the cruiser into the east ditch. The officer was taken to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released. There were no other injuries reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
