(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Sunday February 02, 2014 around 6:30 p.m., a Mitchell resident contacted the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) advising he observed two males and one female, acting suspiciously around a parked Toyota Rav 4 on Montreal St. in Mitchell.
A check on the licence plate of the vehicle, as provided by the resident, revealed that the Rav 4 had been stolen from Waterloo. Within minutes an officer located three individuals walking a short distance from the vehicle and obtained their identities. Upon confirmation that these had been the individuals with the stolen vehicle, they ran from police when told they were under arrest.
One of the males ran back to the Rav 4 and drove it away attempting to evade police. The vehicle sped off towards Frances St where it became stuck in a snow bank. The driver ran from the vehicle and was arrested by police on Wellington St.
The second male was arrested by police near the Mitchell Car Wash while the female ran towards the rear of the LCBO. The original caller followed the female and found her behind the LCBO hiding near a dumpster. The resident made a citizen’s arrest and handed the female over to police.
