Current North Huron CAO Gary Long got his way again, and the Old
Boys Club are blowing another $7,000 of your money. Remember
that the Wingham BIA Department, North Huron Council and Town Staff
still can’t seem to find the $30,000 it would take to bring Town
Hall up to fire code so Heritage Theatre could re-open if they
wanted. They did have $15,000(ish) to repaint the splash pad
at the park. Apparently town staff still haven’t mastered the
complex skill of using a pressure washer or paint roller, so it had
to be contracted out. It would have been cheaper if town staff
simply pressure washed it and maintained it properly, but hey, it’s
only your money that could have been put toward fire code issues.
Council was opposed to Garry Long and Connie Goodall’s
recommendation of blowing $7,000 on radio ads, especially since they
don’t have anything to sell or promote. Too bad the Heritage
Theatre wasn’t still open, they could have promoted
that. Council also wanted more details on the ad
campaign and prices from other radio stations. Leader of the
Old Boys Club, Gary Long, stated these ads would enhance civic
pride”
