Wingham’s high property tax rate has destroyed our once thriving Community.  This is a fact North Huron Council can no longer ignore or deny.  High taxes put Wingham on the bottom of the list when people are looking for a Community to put down roots and raise a family.  It takes years, and in some cases 10+ years to sell a Wingham home.  High taxes = illiquid real estate market = stagnant real estate values.  Reeve Vincent has acknowledged that high taxes result in lower real estate values.  Your Wingham home is worth less due to Reeve Neil Vincent and Council unapologetically rubber stamping budgets without question.

Families have lost their life savings investing in Wingham. Financial stress has destroyed countless families, partially attributed to the high taxes and illiquid real estate market. 

Winghamites feel trapped, and are desperate for a sucker from the City to buy their property.  Ask any real estate agent in Wingham if they would recommend investing your life savings here, then ask them what the number one deal breaker is. 

There is a record number of vacancies on Josephine Street, and many businesses are struggling to survive.  Property managers have a hard time filling residential vacancies, and then lower their standards allowing the criminal element to thrive, scaring away even more families.

Our population is declining, and we are desperate for families to move here.  That will not happen until the property taxes are brought inline with the surrounding areas.  Reducing the tax rate is of paramount importance to the future viability of our Community.
